Do you remember your first fishing trip with Dad? Remember the first fish you caught or the first ten pound bass. (Ok, maybe the first two pounder)? Well do you remember the first Florida Bass Federation tournament you fished or the first limit you weighed in at a tournament?

I remember having the honor of working with a club back in October of 09 to show some of the people that have helped make it possible for all of us to have those memories, which we remember. The club was the Bass Capital Bassmasters. The people they showed that we remembered were Veterans. The organization was the Wounded Warrior project.

The members of the Bass Capital Bassmasters worked on a plane for over a year. They put together a fishing tournament that involved volunteers’ boaters to take out a veteran and fish as a team. I fished with Chris Rick who is the Dean Of Students. I discovered how hard these veterans worked to over come their disabilities and what it meant to them to be able to go fishing with us.

After the weigh-in we all had a great BBQ lunch and sat around telling fishing lies. Just sitting there and watching the boaters and their days partner laugh and talk did my heart a world of good.

The next time you start remembering the good times; please remember these guys and all the other veterans out there because with out them we may not have had the chance to even go fishing. A special thanks to those club members, boaters and most of all to the veterans.
