Gary Paul Wins Number 3!

"It feels good winning one tournament so three in a row is very special" said Gary Paul after winning the Florida Bass Federation event on the St. Johns River; this was his third win this year.

After two win on Okeechobee and on Seminole he was able to continue his hot streak on the St. Johns River. In the 2012 season, Paul has lead after 5 of the 6 days of fishing thus far.

On the St Johns, Paul said that he was fishing areas with quality in them, not as much on the quantity as he was only getting around 7 bites a day but they were the ones that he needed in order to win.

Paul feels confident about his abilities to be able to compete in each of the remaining tournaments, saying that he feels good about his fishing this time of the year and that he gets into a "zone". Also saying that he believes he had the ability to win last year but he failed to execute on several key fish.  He says that the final two tournaments will be tough, saying one of these years he will figure out Seminole in October but until then he would like to add a few points to his lead.

Paul’s win extended his lead in the angler of the year points, only barely as Michael Teate stays within 5 points, Paul says he believes it’s great to have such a close race and that it is elevating his fishing.

On the Co angler side of the Angler of the Year points, the race is even closer with Robert Gleason holding a two point lead over David Glenn who won the co angler side on both Okeechobee and Seminole.

At the end of the year the first and second place finishers in Angler or the Year and Co angler of the Year will advance to the state team.

Up next is Lake Toho the first weekend in May.
